Sorry for the layoff on a blog post, It has been a busy turn of the new year. Figured I would make a post. This is fresh off the lathe and onto a piece of all thread for a new rod I am in the process of constructing. Borrowing from the Michigan handle style, this style of handle is a great “egg pitching” setup when fishing for steelhead in the Pennsylvania tributaries. Making short casts by flipping repeatedly is a standard in fishing the smaller runs of our streams, so being able to hold your hand up higher while holding your line in the other makes for nice underhand short casts time and time again.
The handle consists of burnt block cork, special dalmatian composite makes up the trim rings and entire rear handle. This is going to be installed a IF966 2 pc blank.
Currently working on putting the finishing touches on a re-visited build for a good friend of mine, Tim. This handle utilizes a burl block handle in natural with light mix cork and 45 degree trim cuts using EVA foam sheets to match the gunmetal and black wraps. Reel seat is an RA8.5 from Batson Enterprises. [...]

This handle utilizes a burl block handle in natural with light mix cork and 45 degree trim cuts using EVA foam sheets to match the gunmetal and black wraps. Reel seat is an RA8.5 from Batson Enterprises. This rod is projected to be completed early next week. Here are some pictures of the handle fresh off the lathe.
